Submission on the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards (third edition)

The National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards are set by the Australian Government to make sure hospitals follow rules.

We think that the third edition of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards can support better health outcomes for people with intellectual disability when they visit hospital.

We have told the government what we think.

Read our submission. Not in plain english.

Our recommendations
In our submission we make 2 recommendations. They are:

  1. Have a specific standard on diversity.

  2. Other standards should refer to the standard on diversity and spell out key actions for people with intellectual disability.

We urge the government to listen to our recommendations so that health outcomes can be improved for people with intellectual disability.
