The Centre works closely with many people with intellectual disability and with representative organisations.
However, there are some groups and communities we do not hear from as often.
This includes people with complex communication needs, people living in regional and remote areas, people in supported accommodation, and people who are accessing justice or mental health services.
The Community Connections Tour aims to change this.
It is the Centre's job to make sure that everyone with intellectual disability has an opportunity to have their say and help to shape the work of the centre.
The goals of the tour are:
- Build a strong national network of people with intellectual disability, families and supporters from across Australia
- Listen to people's experiences from many different backgrounds, so the Centre knows what issues to focus on
- Act as a connector, linking people, groups and initiatives to support two-way learning across the country.
The Tour is co-designed, co-delivered and co-evaluated by people with intellectual disability.
