Evaluation of a tailored model of palliative care for people with intellectual disability

We are evaluating a palliative care model for people with intellectual disability.

Palliative care supports people with serious illness to have the best possible quality of life. People with intellectual disability can face extra barriers to getting good palliative care, including communication barriers, services that are hard to navigate, and limited understanding of their needs.

This evaluation looks at how the model is working for people with intellectual disability, their families, supporters, disability services and health professionals. We want to understand what is working well, what could be improved, and how services can provide better support at the end of life.

The findings will help improve palliative care for people with intellectual disability and support more inclusive, person-centred care.
