What is 3DN?


3DN undertakes translational research, education and training, consultancy, and clinical work to improve the mental health and wellbeing of people with developmental conditions, including intellectual disability and autism, neuropsychiatric conditions, and other cognitive disabilities. It was previously known as the Department of Developmental Disability Neuropsychiatry and is now known just as 3DN.

How does 3DN fit with the National Centre?

In 2024, 3DN became part of the National Centre at UNSW Sydney. Although it is part of the Centre, staff of 3DN are funded separately by research grants, NSW Ministry of Health, and other sources.
 

What is the role of the Chair of Intellectual Disability Mental Health?

3DN was established in 2009 by Professor Julian Trollor, the inaugural Chair, Intellectual Disability Mental Health. The Chair is funded by NSW Ministry of Health Mental Health Branch. The current Chair is Associate Professor Rebecca Koncz (FRANZCP, PhD).
