A head shot of Ellie Taylor.
Ellie Taylor

My name is Ellie Taylor.

I work for CDS or Centre for Disability Studies. I work on a part time basis as lived experience researcher. My role is a lived experience researcher working with the co-design team.

Some of the projects we’ve accomplished are, co- teaching, writing a book chapter, working with the inclusive government committee and work experience with people with ID. We give feedback on documents to create easy read versions for inclusivity.

My Education started in high school, then I went to TAFE and did cert I and cert II in Business. After I studied with Uni 2 Beyond, I started with a primary focus on Health and Sociology.

My Advocacy started when I was in high school and took the role of transition liaison officer, to help my school become more inclusive.

In year 10 I was asked to join my school’s rowing club, the (CRC) community. To get fit for rowing I joined CrossFit, shortly thereafter I got asked to enter a competition within the para category. I also volunteer for children and young people with disabilities; I read to them and help design easy reads for their workshops. My work is so important because I want people with intellectual disability to included and get respect.
