Hi there. My name is Julia Hawkins.
I am the Senior Community Engagement Officer at the Centre.
My role is about connecting with people with intellectual disability, families and carers, and community organisations around Australia. I listen to their experiences with health care and link them to the work of the Centre and to other people or groups.
I have worked alongside people with intellectual disability for a long time. I used to work with Inclusion International and travelled to different countries to talk about human rights for people with intellectual disability. I have also worked in engagement teams with disability service providers and run a music therapy business within the NDIS.
In my spare time, I like to go on little adventures with my son, exercise at the gym, laugh with my friends, and rummage around in op shops. I currently live in Brisbane.
