Better research and data

The Centre is working to strengthen research that improves healthcare for people with intellectual disability.

Research is essential to understanding health needs, finding what works, and creating better systems and services.

We want to improve research by:

  • getting more people with intellectual disability involved in research in universities
  • making ethics processes more open and fairer
  • making sure there is appropriate funding and time for research to be inclusive of people with intellectual disability
  • improving how research, universities, health and disability sectors work together
  • better systems for using data across health and disability.

Our Strategy to Strengthen Research is guided by the principles of the National Disability Research Partnership.
